Barda our black handed spiker monkey (Ateles geoffroyi) can hang from the branches and have his entire weight supported by his tail which is like another hand so that he can feed easily with his hands free. Spider monkeys live in the upper canopy of evergreen and semi- deciduous rainforests of Central and South America, feeding on fruit, roots, leaves, grass, flowers, insects, lizards, birds and their eggs.
